 bloated tummy

Not all women suffer from bloating; PMS can manifest in various forms, such as mood swings and tummy cramps.

Bloating is caused by hormones, and can happen before and during your period. This is when your hormone levels are high, resulting in gas and stool to slow down their movement through your intestinal tract. This results in your abdomen bloating up, and sometimes even constipation.

There are some remedies for preventing and treating PMS bloating. One of the most important things to do is to decrease salt, sugar, caffeine and alcohol intake, as these increase water retention. You should also drink more water, exercise regularly, and take supplements such as calcium, magnesium, vitamin B6 and vitamin E, as this will improve your overall physical health and alleviate bloating.
