I've been snoring for ages and it’s really embarrassing, especially when I'm sleeping over at my boyfriend's. What can I do to stop? – Alessa, 23 PDF Print E-mail

Snoring is actually more common than you think. Take heart in the fact that you're not the only musician in this symphony. According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology, 50 percent of adults snore from time to time.

Snoring occurs due to numerous reasons: Allergies, nasal congestions and sleeping in certain positions. Try sleeping on your side as sleeping on your back causes gravity to pull the tongue down to the back of the mouth, thereby obstructing the air passageway. Other suggestions would be to limit the intake of alcohol and clear your nasal passages before you go to bed.

If you snore due to allergies, sinus, colds and asthma, try using Breathe Right. It helps to open up your nasal passages which relieve nasal congestion. Breathe Right is available at all Watsons and Guardian Pharmacies.

I agree with Cleo! Use the breath right strips! My fiance has the same problem when he has had a long day and we bought it for him and it works like a dream

my bf's nose is almost always blocked so he snores quite a bit when he sleeps. usually when he starts to snore, i'll push his shoulders and guide him to sleep on his sides. it helps cos it'll stop him from snoring.

as long as he doesn't flip to his back again, he won't snore. you can give it a try! :)
